Living Legend? Matt Damon
Matt Damon was given the honor of presenting the Cecille B. Demille Award to Robert Deniro at the Golden Globe Awards. Deniro opened his speech by saying that Damon would be up there one day himself, accepting the same award. At just 40 years old, Damon has built up quite the resume. Some of his best include Good Will Hunting, Rounders, Saving Private Ryan, The Bourne Trilogy, and Invictus. But with that, does Damon qualify for the Living Legend title as of today? You Make the call....

Fame Sucks - Classic Hollywood Has Returned to the Red Carpet
In a society where paparrazzi media makes front page news on a daily basis, a much richer trend is being overlooked. Classic Hollywood style, sophistication, and class, has returned to the Red Carpet.
Not many people can truthfully say they are above taking a peek at pictures of famous people captured in candid moments. The publics interest in the stars of the silver screen is a big part of the reason that the film industry has had such tremendous success in our culture. But there was a time before anyone was photographed anywhere but the red carpet. A place for these artists to artistically express their fashion choices on their own terms, and it has produced a great deal of magical imagery.
The style that graces these events is reminiscent of an era almost forgotten. For both Women and Men, you can see your favorite celebrities posing on their way into an awards ceremony, or a premiere looking like they just climbed out of the Roaring 20's. Their certifiable beauty is proof that it is not just skin that sells.
For the famous, they will still have to endure a camera stuck in their face as they do their grocery shopping, sneaking a cigarette in between takes, or the ever popular bikini shots during personal vacations with friends and loved ones. A horrible intrusion that most famous individuals must endure. So Fame still Sucks, but thankfully, that has not stopped them from returning to Classic Form.
Enjoy some beautiful moments for the Golden Globes...

A Man Who Hates Phonies. A Man After My Own Heart- Holden Caufield
Has the smoke cleared yet? Rest in peace J.D. Salinger. Thanks.
"When I was all set to go, when I had my bags and all, I stood for a while next to the stairs and took a last look down the goddam corridor. I was sort of crying. I don't know why. I put my red hunting hat on, and turned the peak around to the back, the way I liked it, and then I yelled at the top of my goddam voice, 'Sleep tight, ya morons!'"

1st and "Greatest" Car Chase of All Time? Peter Yates & Steve McQueen...
Peter Yates, the director of the iconic film Bullitt, passed away on Sunday. Great time to pay tribute to the man who is credited with inventing the on screen car chase. Starring Steve McQueen, the scene is still considered by many to be the creation of a movie genre, and still the best to date. You decide....

Put Me in the Time Machine... In Living Color Redux?
The Fox Network announced Wednesday that Actor and Comedian Jamie Foxx is developing a comedey sketch show. The network claims the show will be "in the vein" of the comedy Classic, In Living Color. The show will apparently feature spoofed movie trailers, commericals, TV shows, Celebrities, and Pop Culture. One can only hope this show can achieve a fraction of the success of its predecessor. With a cast including Foxx, Jim Carrey, the Wayans Brothers, David Alan Grier, a Dancing Jennifer Lopez, and more...it was like catching lightening in a bottle, and its cancellation was one of the great disappointments in comedic television history. At least we still have the clips to enjoy... Take a look, its free.

A Real Superhero?! Phoenix Jones is Trying His Best...
So there is apparently an actual caped crusader in the Seattle area. And he is not alone either! Phoenix Jones is part of a Superhero Movement in the Capital Hill area, that includes at least Eight other masked vigilante's, that serve and protect.
With the support of the police department, Phoenix spends his nights fighting crime, feeding the homeless and other Superhero tasks. His journey began after he witnessed some injustices to people close to him. He decided to patrol at night, and break up fights. But soon, he was being recognized all the time, so he decided to create his Super Identity, Phoenix Jones.
Jones is making national media after he stopped a car jacking last week, and then again made news this week when he was held at gunpoint, while another assailant broke his nose. Jones described the encounter as no big deal. He claims he has been stabbed at held at gunpoint many times now. "When I walk into a neighborhood, criminals leave because they see the suit,” said Jones. “I symbolize that the average person doesn't have to walk around and see bad things and do nothing.”.
I for one applaud the efforts of these men and women. Official statements released by the Seattle Police Department are discouraging citizens to Mask up and take to the streets, but I say, why not? They are knowingly putting themselves in dangers way, motivated by a desire to make the place they live a better one. The risks are obvious, but the reward outweighs that factor for them. I hope to see caped crusaders walking the streets of my neighborhood soon. Up, Up and Away...

Wijnanda Deroo’s : Inside New York Eateries
Continuing her long-term exploration of the architectural interior as a genre of photographic investigation, artist Wijnanda Deroo has scoured New York's five boroughs documenting the full spectrum of the city's culinary institutions. From Café des Artistes to Papaya Dog, the Russian Tea Room to Yonah Schimmel's Knishes, Deroo's viewfinder alights on diverse sites (and sights) where we New Yorkers sit (or stand) to consume our daily bread. Composing an atlas of the city's restaurants and cafes, Inside New York Eateries is an important addition to the photographic history of New York.

Beastie Boys Back in Business
After halting production of their new album (Hot Sauce Committee Part 1) in 2009, when Adam Yauch was diagnosed with cancer, the Beasties are back. Congratulations to Yauch for making Cancer his bitch.
Not only are they working to complete their album, but Yauch is also producing a short film about the Beasties. Fight for your Right (Revisited) is based on the true events following their release of the video for the song of the same name in 1987. Elijah Wood, Seth Rogan and Danny McBride will star as the Beasties! Will Ferrel, John C. Reilly and Jack Black are also a part of the cast. Very exciting news indeed....Check out the photo below...

Happy Birthday... Castor Troy, or rather, Nicholas Cage
Boy has this guy had his ups and downs. It is remarkable how many turbulent stories exist about this 47 year old Hollywood product. But when I see him in the midst of some bankruptcy scandal, or when he has a meltdown in some restaurant or nightclub, or when one of his movies tanks...I always try to remind myself (although there truly are many fine moments in his career) of my favorite character that he ever played... the delightfully evil, Castor Troy. Here is a smidgen of this characters magic below...

Lady Gaga Comments on Dearest Damned Diary?
Many influential trendsetters have graced the pages of Dearest Damned Diary, and they are beginning to talk.
"His site seamlessly combines some of the most amazing visual dynamos in the world both today, and yesterday.". I said that about myself.
"I believe he is making artistic choices in so many different mediums, at such a high level, that his viewers can either not truly absorb what they are experiencing, or they are just plain spoiled rotten..". I may have also said that about myself.
"The images he shares are visual ecstasy. He makes me cry." not Lady Gaga.
I am truly humbled by all of your feedback and kind words. Keep reading my Diary. It's free.

Living Legend? Chuck Berry
Chuck Berry is in the news after collapsing last night while performing in Chicago. Despite having the apparent health scare, Berry attempted to continue the show, ultimately exited by way of his signature duck walk. Still a Rock Star at 84 years old.
Berry is often praised as being one of the Great pioneers of Rock and Roll, and is one of the most respected rock musicians amongst his peers, having been credited as inspiring such greats as John Lennon, Eric Clapton, and many, many more singer/songwriters/guitarists. Living Legend? You make the call...
